Happy Halloween!

 Tonight was Trunk-or-Treat at the church ... it rained on us a little, but didn't keep us from having fun!

Remember the Oompa Loompas from 2008? Anyone still around from five years ago? haha. Well, we had to bring them back while they still fit. They always get lots of laughs, I couldn't resist. I figured they went along with our "candy movie" theme. 

We had a super Halloween

((whoops, I wrote this a few nights ago, but let's just get it posted already.))

Since when is Halloween a week-long extravaganza? Whew, I'm exhausted. The kids had a great time and that's all that matters in the end. November sounds really nice and I'm glad to move on from this candy coma.

The kids had store-bought costumes this year, except for Greta. I made her the cute tiny Super Girl outfit. It was so simple and cost me next to nothing. Found the blue onesie on clearance at Target, and had all the other fabrics on hand already.

Trick-or-Treating

Max had been telling everyone that he was going to be a "bee costume" for Halloween (even when they'd already seen him in his Oompa Loompa costume). My MIL bought these costumes on sale after Halloween one year & they'd just been in my closet. The kids said they wanted to wear them for Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. That was fine by me because I'd already washed the green hairspray out of their hair THREE times.

My awesome friend Katherine invited us for a yummy chili dinner & then we went T-or-T-ing in their neighborhood. :)
I thought they were pretty cute as a witch and bumblebee.

Ruby kept saying "It's dahhhk (dark), mama!" and "It's How-een night, huh mama?"

HAPPY HALLoompaWEEN!

We've already been to three Halloween Parties this week. I wonder if I have it in me for one more night of spooky sugar-crazed fun?! Probably. :)

I finished the kids' Oompa Loompa costumes last week and they've been a hit.(from the 1971 movie -- not the creepy Johnny Depp version) The kids love them and people get a kick out of them. My brother and sister-in-law did the Oompa Loompa costumes first, several years ago. They are both tall, but it was still funny. Then my short bro and SIL did it and it was even funnier. So I figured the shorter the better, and my little less-than-three-feet-tall Oompa Loompas are pretty hilarious!

I hadn't planned costumes for David and me, but we had our ward Trunk-or-Treat last night and I decided to throw something together at the last minute. Whew! It was crazy, but worth it. I love Halloween and I'm glad I didn't miss the fun of dressing up. I was running around with purple spray paint, fabric, hair paint, glitter, fake eyelashes, looking for Ruby's missing Oompa shoe, and wasn't sure if we'd pull it off. Procrastination at it's finest. I must say, too, that David was such a good sport to go along with it all. I don't know how many guys would wear a big goofy homemade bowtie and a purple cardboard hat. What a great husband to go along with his crazy wife's ideas!
